Nick Characters

These are the characters a nickname may contain while modules/nick.yml has ascii-only: true (the default). The check looks at the visible text; color and formatting tags like <red> do not count. The rule applies to /nick set, /nick setother and the web panel.

Why so strict: letters from other scripts (Cyrillic а instead of a), invisible characters and emoji would make names forgeable or show up as an empty box in the game. Every character here renders cleanly in Minecraft's own font.

Digits #

Punctuation #

The space character is allowed as well.

Symbols #

This list lives in nick.allowed-symbols and can be shortened or extended in the config. Emoji are rejected even when listed there.

Not allowed: umlauts (ä ö ü ß), accents (é ñ), emoji (⭐ 😀), invisible characters and all letters from other scripts. To allow everything, set ascii-only: false.
